The purpose of the Surface Coal Mine Safety Skill Set (or otherwise known as the Standard 11) is to introduce participants to the industry site safety standards, as a requirement for any worker in the Queensland coal mining industry. This compulsory skill set is delivered in accordance with the recognised Standard 11 for training within coal mines. To receive a Statement of Attainment for this skill set, participants are required to complete all assessments and be deemed competent and a Skills Experience Logbook (provided by Gold Training) through record of onsite work activities and have signed off on site prior to returning to Gold Training.
There are no formal entry requirements, however, it is preferred that participants display initiative towards a career in the mining industry or have previously attained the competencies of this skill set, within a prior five year refresher period. This skill set can compliment and enhance existing knowledge by refreshing and updating participants on the latest industry standards.
