This unit of competency will provide participants with real world skills and knowledge required to issue work permits. It covers an understanding of the permit system as well as the limitations of each permit, and making decisions regarding the need for and the correct use of each permit. Including the issue of any and all permits, which may also be referred to as 'clearances' depending on the organisation preferences.
This unit of competency applies to personal who are required to issue appropriate permits to work, to persons conducting a variety of activities in workplace environments in which hazards exist or specific procedures need to be followed and monitored to protect the safety of personnel and the integrity of plant or process.
This unit of competency also applies to an individual working alone or as part of a team or group and working in liaison with other shift team members and the control room operator, as appropriate.
Prerequisites apply to this unit of competency. Participants may only be granted competency in this unit after achieving competency in the unit MSMWHS201 Conduct hazard analysis.

Construction Skills Queensland is an independent industry funded body supporting employers, workers, apprentices and career seekers in the building and construction industry.
Please note that a maximum amount of $300.00 may be funded per participant for this course and an administration fee of $100 applies to enrolments seeking Construction Skills Queensland funding.
