You may be eligible for funding under the Queensland Government Higher Level Skills Program to undertake training with Gold Training in MSL40116 Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques.

What is the Higher Level Skills program?

The Higher Level Skills program provides eligible individuals with access to a subsidised training place in selected Certificate IV level or above qualifications and priority skill sets.

The principal aim is to help individuals gain the higher-level skills required to secure empolyment or career advancement in a priority industry or transition to university to continue their studies.

Eligibility

To be eligible to receive the Higher Level Skills funding students must:

  • Be 15 years of age or over
  • Be no longer at school
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen permanently living in Queensland
  • Not hold or not be enrolled in a Certificate IV or higher-level qualification (not including qualifications completed at school)

Do I need to contribute to the cost of training?

Students undertaking Certificate IV level training are required to contribute to the cost of their training through a co-contribution fee.  The amount of $50.00 (concessional) and $100.00 (non-concessional) is payable on enrolment.  Further details of how this figure is distributed by each unit of study are available below.

   Concession Students    

   $50 - 17 units ($2.95 per unit)   

   Non-Concession Students   

   $100 - 17 units ($5.90 per unit)   

Do I qualify for the concessional rate?

Concessional student status applies when:

  • The student holds a Health Care card or Pensioner Concession Card issued under Commonwealth legislation, or is the partner or a dependant of a person who holds a Health Care card or Pensioner Concession card, and is named on the card
  • The student provides Gold Training with an official form under Commonwealth legislation confirming that the student, his or her partner, or the person of whom the student is a dependant is entitled to concessions under a Health Care card or Pensioner Concession card
  • The student is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • The Student has a disability
  • The student is an adult prisoner

Pre-Enrolment Considerations

The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training provides funding for one Higher Level Skills funded qualification per eligible participant.  This means, if eligible, once you complete a Higher Level Skills funded qualification you will no longer be eligible for funding under this vocational education model.  For further information, the department provides Student Fact Sheets available on their website, https://training.qld.gov.au/home.
