Certificate IV in Work Health Safety
Course Information
Completing Gold Training's fast-tracked Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety will provide you with the necessary knowledge and tools to provide leadership and guidance to others in relation to safety and risk management throughout the workplace.
There are no formal entry requirements, however, it is preferred that participants display initiative and have some experience in a role with exposure to various work health and safety components on site or in an office environment.
This qualification can compliment and enhance existing knowledge and is a great bridging course to prepare participants with a skill set to be more effective in managing work health and safety compliance standards in the workplace. Upon successful completion of this qualification participants may apply for a Work Health and Safety Officer certificate of authority from Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ).

Health and Safety Representative Training
Course Information
The role of Health and Safety Representative (HSR) requires the ability to identify health and safety issues by liaising with other employees and reporting these issues to upper management.
From 1st February 2019, all elected HSRs must attend an approved training course within three month of election, otherwise they will not be eligible to fulfill the role of HSR. Training includes an initial five day training course and a one day refresher course to be attended at least every three years (as per Section 21 of the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 [QLD]).
Gold Training are an approved training provider for Work, Health and Safety Queensland to provide Health and Safety Representative Training. For more information visit Work Health and Safety Queensland.

Key areas covered in this course include
Upon successful completion of the HSR training, participants will receive a statement of attendance and have the understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation, how it applies to their role as a HSR and ability to issue Provisional Improvement Notices.

- Overview of regulation and frameworks
- Duties of a HSR
- Issuing Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs)
- Identifying health and safety issues
- Entitlements and protection for HSRs and the relevant committees

RIISS00034 Surface Coal Mine Safety Skill Set (Standard 11) - Full and Refresher Courses
Course Information
The purpose of the Surface Coal Mine Safety Skill set (or otherwise known as the Standard 11) is to introduce participants to the industry site safety standards, as a requirement for any worker in the Queensland coal mining industry. This compulsory skill set is delivered in accordance with the recognised Standard 11 for training within coal mines. To receive a Statement of Attainment for this skill set, participants are required to complete a Skills Experience Logbook (provided by Gold Training) through record of onsite work activities and and have signed off on site prior to returning to Gold Training.
There are no formal entry requirements, however, it is preferred that participants display initiative towards a career in the mining industry or have previously attained the competencies of this skill set, within a prior five year refresher period.
This skill set can compliment and enhance existing knowledge by refreshing and updating participants on the latest industry standards. This skill set can also provide a credit toward a number of Certificate II and III level qualifications in the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package.
