Matt Egan is a young man with ambition.
At just 18 years of age, Matt has recently relocated to the Sunshine Coast to join the Melbourne Storm’s under 20’s NYC squad which is based at the Sunshine Coast Stadium at Kawana.
Gold Training have a track record in assisting and mentoring young rugby league players in providing recognised qualifications and life skills to complement their playing commitments. In this case, Matt’s outstanding attitude and persistence stood him apart from his peers and Gold Training were quick to recognise this and made an offer of employment.
His drive and enthusiastic nature has not gone unnoticed by Gold Training’s National Manager, Samantha Johnson. “Matt called me every day. I was so impressed by his persistence. You don’t see that kind of attitude in a young man very often and we’re so proud to have him on our team”’ she said.
Gold Training snapped up the young recruit after he came highly recommended by his Player Agent, Sam Ayoub. Sam had nothing but praise for Matt. The Storm’s player welfare manager, Brian Phelan commented, “Gold Training has really stepped up to help Matt settle into the Sunshine Coast. It’s a big move for any young player to relocate to a new area and to have the support of local business makes the transition just that little bit easier”.
Matt has a level head on his shoulders and he wants to pursue an electrical apprenticeship while he’s making his way through the NRL ranks. Gold Training will assist Matt in pursuing his dreams on and off the field.
Ms Johnson also commented, “I would encourage all businesses to support the local talent right on our door step. There are some terrific young people looking for opportunities right now. You won’t be disappointed”.
